Oru Marubhoomi Kadha Review

inally, after a gap of seven years, Veteran Director Priyadarshan and superstar Mohanlal are back together in "Arabiyum Ottakavum P.Madhavan Nairum in Oru Marubhoomi Kadha", a light-hearted film meant to evoke non-stop laughter, mixing slapstick comedy with amusing wisecracks from Mohanlal and Mukesh. To a large extend, the director has succeeded in his attempt though the story thread is very thin. Along with Mohanlal and Mukesh, others in the cast are Lakshmi Rai, Bhavana, Suraj Venjarumoodu, Innocent, Shakti Kapoor, Mammukoya and Lakshmi Gopalaswami.
P.Madhavan Nair (Mohanlal) is an accountant in a Gulf based firm owned by a Sheik (Shakthi Kapoor). After years of toiling in the desert, he is comfortably settled. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Meenakshi (Lakshmi Rai) enters his life and after some bizarre incidents, the two get married. But there are more weird developments and Madhavan Nair finds himself with an old crony Abdu Kupleri (Mukesh), who had dropped in to his office for some help. Soon the two get involved with another girl Ileana (Bhavana) whom they found kidnapped and kept in a car parked near the desert. What follows is a roller coaster ride by the three, full of fun and laughter.
The movie has tried it’s best to be an out and out comedy and it has managed to rake up laughter on quite a few occasions. The slapstick comedy is sometimes monotonous with characters slapping each other mechanically. Spliced here and there, there are a few smatterings of melodrama to satisfy the pensive viewer. Sadly, those who have seen Priyadarshan’s previous movies will be overcome with a feeling of déjà vu, many of the scenes resembling those from his older films. But among the new generation, the comedy and the comical and absurd verbal exchanges between Mohanlal and Mukash will have quite a few takers. Priyadarshan is at his best when handling comedy and he has shown his dexterity in this film too, particularly in the first half. Bhavana’s entry in particular will evoke riotous laughter.
The silver lining in the movie is the acting of Mohanlal and Mukesh. Mohanlal drawing from his acting repertoire, has given an amazing and graceful performance bringing back memories of some of his previous flicks with Priyan. Mukesh compliments Lal with another sterling performance. The two with their verbal wisecracks and quick repartees provide plenty of entertainment. Bhavana and Lakshmi Rai have limited roles which they have managed without being remarkable. Suraj Venjaramoodu has the usual jokes while Nedumudi Venu, Shakti Kapoor and Innocent have not been very noteworthy. Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, however, has impressed in her brief appearance.
Priyadarshan wrote the script which is hilarious but without substance. Azhagappan’s camera and M.J.Sreekumar’s music are impressive. Editing by Suresh T.S. is generally sound.
A light hearted entertainer, ‘Oru Marubhumi Kadha” should be seen as such. The movie is often inane, almost empty of any story, no message, but to spend time away from the everyday worries and anxieties, there may not be a better choice. The plots are absurd, the story is wafer thin, but if you approach it with a carefree heart, you will enjoy the movie.
Verdict: Comedy Entertainer.

Lending them a big support is the ever dependable Mukesh who was with them in numerous successfull films like Vandanam,Boeing Boeing,Kaakakuyil etc.This comic caper is the first Indian movie to be shot in Abu Dhabi where Mohanlal dons the role of P Madhavan Nair,an employee in Abu Dhabi.The plot develops when he meets Mukesh and thus lead to numerous comic moments.This all and all comic entertainer has a stellar supporting cast in the form of Bhavana,Lakshmi Rai,Innocent,Mamukoya etc and one of the major highlight of this movie is Shakthi Kapoor,who makes his debut in Malayalam as an Arab.Having a legacy of blockbusters like Thalavattom, Chitram, Kilukkam, Thenmaaavin Kombathu, Chandralekha etc,this much hyped film from the Priyan-Lal-Mukesh team is expected to be yet another blockbuster in the making. This new film is all set to release on December 16th 2011. The initiative for this big project was taken by veteran director Ashok Kumar(producer of this film),who also happened to be the director of Mohanlal's debut film,Thirnottom,where Priyadarshan was one of the associate directors. This new film will be distributed all across Kerala by Seven Arts release.

മോഹന്‍ലാല്‍ തന്നെ അത്ഭുതപ്പെടുത്തിയ നടനാണെന്ന് യുവതാരം കുഞ്ചാക്കോ ബോബന്‍. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ അഭിനയപ്രകടനം കണ്ട് പലപ്പോഴും താന്‍ ഞെട്ടിപ്പോയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും യുവ സൂപ്പര്‍സ്റ്റാര്‍ പറയുന്നു.

Snehaveedu Review.

"Snehaveedu", a Sathyan Anthikad directorial-Mohanlal starrer flick, which is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Films. The movie enriched with veteran Sheela portraying the role of Ammukkutty Amma. Mohanlal plays the role of Ajayan, Ammukktty Amma's son. Director himself pens the script of the movie which is cinematographed by Venu. Ilayaraja handled the music department.
Once again in "Snehaveedu", Sathyan-Mohanlal combo caters with another feel-good family entertainer with a topical message. Sathyan Anthikkad , a director with the Midas touch, proves again that he is one of the best in family genre creation. And this is not because he has used a fresh or a unique story to tell but because of the way he narrates an age old tale, still holds the interest of the audience, which is an amazing quality.
"Snehaveedu" is a simple story which is a sweet and moving experience for every section of the viewers. Its certainly not the director's best film yet, but still it succeeds to unleash a refreshing charm.
The story revolves around Ajayan (Mohanlal), who, after having tried his luck in different cities around the world, comes back to his village to look after his ageing mother Ammukutty Amma (Sheela) and to get her love and the nostalgia of his growing up years. There, he starts a company for producing agricultural equipments and earns his living as a farmer. One day a boy named Karthik (Rahul Pillai) comes and meets Ajayan claiming to be his son. The effect of this incident on Ajayan's life and how he handles it forms the crux of the story.
"Snehaveedu" is a mix of melodrama and sentimentalism peppered with humour. The Sathyan Anthikkad's usual impact is there throughout. Shortly after second half and climax having suffered an immense loss to arise as per expectations. The first half is rollicking and funny and stands as main higlight of the flick. The film depicts a simple story, as it is string together by a series of incidents.
The two lead players superstar Mohanlal and veteran Sheela are in top form here. Sheela who plays Mohanlal's mother gives a splendid performance and Mohanlal too matches well. Rahul Pillai, a new face who comes with a turning point of the flick, is rated with Good performance. Padmapriya is aptly cast. Sathyan Anthikkad's usual actors Mammukoya, Innocent, KPAC Lalitha do their roles neatly. Biju Menon, Lena, Reeja, Sasi Kallinga, Praveen all have put in their best efforts to make their parts look perfect.
Sathyan Anthikad's takings strikes the right chord. His writings tries to cater to the taste of the family audience by making a sensible film. There is nothing new story wise or in presentation but it has its own unique taste. Cinematographer Venu, who is on full form with his nice visuals and fabulous frames. Ilaiyaraja's tunes are lilting to say the least.
Overall like all typical of Sathyan Anthikkad films,'Snehaveedu' has humour and pathos.
Verdict: Family Entertainer.

Much awaited Mohanlal film 'Snehaveedu' got released on Sept 30th and as per the initial reports this new Malayalam movie directed by veteran Sathyan Anthicad has lived upto it's expectation as a clean family entertainer. This film 'Snehaveedu' produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirwaad Cinemas also features yesteryear heroine Sheela, Padmapriya, Biju Menon, Innocent, KPAC Lalitha etc in it. Just like each and every Sathyan Anthicad movie, this new film 'Snehaveedu' too deals with the emotions, happiness etc of a common man in his day to day life. This film is all about Ajayan (Mohanlal), who has now settled in his native place after returning from Gulf and he is now leading a calm and peace life with his mother Ammukuttiyamma (Sheela). As the story progressess, a boy named Karthik (a debutant boy, Rahul Pillai) enters claiming that Ajayan is his father and the rest forms the crux of the story. As expected, this new Sathyan Anthicad-Mohanlal film doesn't feature any twist or surprise in it, as the film ends in the most simple way that one can predict. But the major highlight of this film happens to be the return of the cute, lovable Mohanlal and his trademark common man mannerisms from the past. This film has a lot of hillarious funny moments in it (that too, far better than the 'double-meaning' comedies from the recent releases) and a bit of emotional sequences as well. In the technical side, director Sathyan Anthicad, who is also the script writer for this film has delivered the right film, that a normal viewer expects from him. Some may say that, Sathyan is delivering his old wine with a brand new name but it should be noted that his each and every film is eagerly awaited by the family audience since it provides the much required gurantee, that it will be a clean family movie. Venu's cinematography is the other field that requires a mention here. Venu helped Sathyan to potray his simple story in the most beautiful way it can. Illayaraja's music as well as back ground score were just ok, but much more was expected from his standards. In the acting side, everyone has excelled in their own way. Nothing much to talk about Mohanlal since it's a very well known fact that whatever role it is, he will just be awesome. Other lead actor, Sheela too was great to watch and the chemistry between Mohanlal and Sheela is really an eye catching one. Others like Padmapriya, Biju Menon, Innocent, KPAC Lalitha etc don't have enough space to perform, but have done it perfectly within the limitations. Surprisingly, the debutant boy, Rahul have performed very much above than what it is expected from him and he is a star in the making for sure. All in all, this new Malayalam movie 'Snehaveedu' is a perfect Sathyan Anthicad movie, that will surely work big time with the family audiences. I prefer you to watch this movie, since it is a clean family entertainer in Malayalam, after a very long time. Top Class Movie Rating: 9/10

നാടും വീടും അമ്മയും സുഹൃത്തുക്കളും മാത്രം ചേര്‍ന്നതായിരുന്നു അജയന്റെ ലോകം. നീണ്ട ഇടവേളയ്ക്ക് നാട്ടിലെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ ആ ലോകം അവന്‍ സ്വന്തമാക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ നെട്ടോട്ടത്തിനിടയില്‍ വിവാഹംപോലും അവന്‍ മറന്നുപോയി... ഒരു ദിവസം രാത്രി അജയന്‍ വീട്ടിലെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ വീട്ടില്‍ ഇരുട്ട്... ലൈറ്റ് പോലും ഇട്ടിട്ടില്ല ...പശു തൊഴുത്തിന് പുറത്ത് ... അജയന്‍ ഓടി വീടിന്റെ ഉമ്മറത്തേക്ക് കയറി... വരാന്തയിലെ കസേരയില്‍ നിന്ന് ഒരു രൂപം ഉയര്‍ന്നു... ലൈറ്റിട്ടപ്പോള്‍ ഒരു പയ്യന്‍... ''ആരാ'' അജയന്‍ ഉറക്കെ ചോദിച്ചു. പയ്യന്‍ തല കുനിച്ചു... അജയന്‍ അമ്മയെത്തേടി അകത്തേക്ക് കയറി. അകത്തെ കട്ടിലില്‍ കത്തുന്ന കണ്ണുകളുമായി അമ്മ.
''ആരാ...അമ്മേ...അത്'' അജയന്‍ ചോദിച്ചു.

''എനിക്കറിയില്ല'' ദേഷ്യത്തോടെയുള്ള മറുപടി. അടുക്കളയിലെ വരാന്തയില്‍ നിന്ന് കരയുന്ന സുനന്ദ...
'എന്താ ഇവിടെ പ്രശ്‌നം? എന്തിനാ കരയുന്നത്? ആരാ ആ പയ്യന്‍?'' അജയന്‍ ഒറ്റ ശ്വാസത്തില്‍ ചോദിച്ചു.
''അത്...അജയേട്ടനെ കാണാന്‍ വന്നതാ...''
''അതിനെന്താ...ഞാന്‍ കണ്ടോളാം അതിന് നിങ്ങളെന്തിനാ ടെന്‍ഷനടിക്കുന്നത്?''

അജയനെ കാണാന്‍ ചെന്നൈയില്‍ നിന്നാണ് ആ പയ്യന്‍ വന്നത്. അജയന്‍ പയ്യനെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തു. വിരട്ടി. ഒടുവില്‍ തിരിച്ചയയ്ക്കാന്‍ ഹൈവേയിലെ ബസ്റ്റോപ്പില്‍കൊണ്ടുവിട്ട് വീട്ടിലേക്ക് തിരിച്ചുവന്നു. പിറ്റേദിവസം ഉണര്‍ന്നപ്പോള്‍ ആ പയ്യന്‍ വീണ്ടും വരാന്തയില്‍ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

ബസ് കിട്ടാതെ വഴിവക്കില്‍ നിന്ന പയ്യനെ നാട്ടുകാരാണ് അസമയത്ത് അജയന്റെ വീട്ടിലെത്തിച്ചത്. 'അജയന്റെ മകന്‍' തറവാട്ടിലെത്തിയ വാര്‍ത്ത നാടുമുഴുവന്‍ പരന്നു. വിവാഹം കഴിക്കാത്ത അജയന്റെ കുട്ടി-അവന് നാണക്കേടായി. പക്ഷേ, അമ്മ അവനെ സ്വീകരിച്ചു. സുഹൃത്തുക്കളും നാട്ടുകാരും സ്വീകരിച്ചു. പക്ഷേ, അജയന്‍ ധര്‍മസങ്കടത്തിലായി...

അജയന്‍ അച്ഛനാണെന്ന് തെളിയിക്കാന്‍ പയ്യന്റെ കൈവശം അജയന്റെ പഴയ ഒരു ബ്ലാക്ക് ആന്‍ഡ് വൈറ്റ് ഫോട്ടോ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അമ്മയുടെ പെട്ടിയില്‍ നിന്നാണ് ആ ഫോട്ടോ പയ്യന് കിട്ടിയത്. 20 ദിവസം മുന്‍പ് അവന്റെ അമ്മ മരിച്ചുപോയത്രേ.
ഒരു പേരക്കുട്ടിക്കുവേണ്ടി ആഗ്രഹിച്ചിരുന്ന അമ്മുക്കുട്ടിയമ്മ പയ്യനെ സ്വീകരിച്ചു. ചെറിയകാലം കൊണ്ട് അവന്‍ എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടവനായിമാറി. അജയന്‍ കുരുക്കഴിക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്തോറും കുരുക്ക് മുറുകിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

അജയന്റെ സുഹൃത്തായിരുന്നു മലപ്പുറത്തെ എസ്.ഐ. ബാലചന്ദ്രന്‍. ബാലചന്ദ്രന്‍ നാട്ടിലെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ അജയന്‍ പ്രശ്‌നം അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. പോലീസ് മുറയില്‍ പയ്യനെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്‌തെങ്കിലും കാര്യം ഉണ്ടായില്ല. അജയന്റെ അമ്മ അവന്റെ സംരക്ഷകയായി...

അമ്മുക്കുട്ടിയമ്മ പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ചു... പയ്യന്റെ കൈപിടിച്ച് വീട്ടിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

Blessy's "Pranayam" starring Mohanlal, Anupam Kher and Jayaprada in key roles released today,August 31st with a good opening. The movie produced by Mr Sajeev P.K under the banner of Fragrant Nature Films. 
Right from the heart of Blessy, here is a story about love, the emotion that can take many dimensions and touch everyone's heart in unexpected ways. 
"Pranayam" based on the minute aspects and depth in relationships. Like the bond between husband and wife , father and his children, mother and children.'Pranayam' claims to be discussing a theme that has special relevance. 
Anupam Kher plays Achutha Menon, a football player who had got selected in the State team but could never play for the team. He moulded his life and career to accommodate the romance in his life. Jayaprada's character enacts a character called Grace Mathews, the wife of a philosophy professor named Mathews, played by Mohanlal. Anoop Menon essays the role of Suresh Menon, Achutha Menon's son. 
The movie depicts a Love bond between Mathews, Grace and Achutha Menon. The power of 'Pranayam' starts to weave its magic over these three. But to their unpleasant surprise, a fatal turn of events cause chaos in the thread. What are these fatal events that cause a ruckus of emotions describes the basic essence of this film. 
Mohanlal as usual excelled with the ease of acting skills to enact Mathews ,will be his best ever role in recent times. Anupam Kher mesmerized as Achutha Menon. The person who steals the show is Jayaprada, who delivers a sterling performance as Grace.She breathes so much life into her character. Anoop Menon has also done a wonderful job, especially in climax parts. Dhanya Mary, Niyas,Nayana, Apoorva Bose, Aaryan and Nivedtha have done their roles with perfection. 
The greatest asset that Pranayam has is its cast. The magnitude of chemistry between Mohanlal, AnupamKher and Jayaprada is mind blowing. Taking technical sides, through Pranayam Blessy succeeds in every aspect of film making. Cinematography by Satheesh Kurup and Editing by Raja Mohammed adds to the mood of the story in a huge way. M.Jayachandran's music is melodious, especially "Paatil ee Paatil.. song that is another highlight of the film. In spite of excellent performances and equally good technical support, the film delivers a class work. 
We have seen so many triangular love stories in all languages, but 'Pranayam' does not fit into the genre represented by those films. Feel 'Pranayam' its something really different ! The movie however moves at a very slow pace and the makeup at times is very heavy. Overall, “PRANAYAM” is a very good movie with its mind and heart and Love in all the right places...!!!!

Pranayam, directed by one of the most sought after director in Malayalam film industry Blessy got released yesterday and very good reports are coming out from the first day viewers suggesting that this new Malayalam film is sure to make a name for itself in the history of Malayalam cinema.

Pranayam features our own Superstar Mohanlal, Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, yesteryear Bollywood heroine Jayaprada in the lead roles and others like Anoop Menon, Dhanya Mary Varghese etc in the supporting roles also. This new movie Pranayam was produced by Sajeev PK under the banner of Fragrant Nature and was distributed all across Kerala by Mohanlal's own distribution company, MaxLaab Entertainments.

Frankly speaking, this new Malayalam movie Pranayam doesn't have any serious plot in it to deal with, but with a simple and predictable storyline, this new film mainly concentrates on the feelings and emotions of three aged people. The main highlight of this movie happens to be it's three lead artists in the form of Mohanlal, Anupam Kher and Jayaprada, who have excelled in each and every part of this film.

In the technical side, director Blessy, who is also the script writer for this film have once again come up with an emotionally touching story and have succeeded in presenting it in the right manner. From the music department, the duo of M Jayachandran - ONV Kurup have delivered whatever was required from them and also the BGM score by M Jayachandran is well suited with the feel of this movie. Other fields, that requires special mention here happens to be the cinematography done by Satheesh Kurup and art direction by Prasanth Madhav.

In the acting side, one can expect a magical feel when three of the top acting legends from the nation unites in for a single movie. Anupam Kher as Achutha Menon and Jayaprada as Grace were really terrific to watch, but the stealer of the show happens to be our Mohanlal, who potrayed a character of retired Philosophy professor, Mathews, who is on a wheel chair, after a stroke that left him partly paralyzed. This film proves why he is regarded as one of the most talented actor India has ever produced. The real surprise factor was Anoop Menon, who was able to make a screen space for himself, even though some of India's real acting giants were present alongside him. Rest of the cast also contributed in their own way to this movie.

All in all, this new Malayalam movie Pranayam is not at all a sheer class film but is surely an honest attempt to make such a movie. This film is a sure treat for those genuine film lovers, who have been waiting for long for such a film in Malayalam. You are highly recommended to watch this movie for it's emotionally touching way of making and for some stunning acting performances from the lead actors.

പ്രണയം - ഇതുവരെ ആരും പറയാത്ത പ്രണയകഥ

ഞാന്‍ ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച രാവിലെ മലയാളം വെബ്‌ദുനിയയുടെ എഡിറ്ററെ വിളിച്ചു. എന്‍റെ അസുഖവിവരങ്ങള്‍ ഒക്കെ അദ്ദേഹം തിരക്കി. ഒടുവില്‍ ഞാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

“എനിക്കൊരു ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ട്. പ്രണയം സിനിമയുടെ റിവ്യൂ ഞാന്‍ തന്നെ കൊടുക്കണം എന്ന്” 

സ്നേഹപൂര്‍വം ഉപദേശിക്കുകയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ചെയ്തത്. “യാത്രയൊന്നും പാടില്ല, സിനിമ കാണാനായി മൂന്നു മണിക്കൂര്‍ നേരം സ്ക്രീനില്‍ നോക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത് സ്ട്രെയിനാണ്. ഒരു ഇമോഷണല്‍ സിനിമ ആയതുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങളുടെ മനസിനെ അത് മോശമായി ബാധിക്കാനിടയുണ്ട്” - എന്നൊക്കെ പറഞ്ഞു.

“എനിക്കിപ്പോള്‍ വലിയ കുഴപ്പമില്ല. അല്‍പ്പം ശ്വാസം‌മുട്ടലുണ്ട്. കിതപ്പും. അത്രേയുള്ളൂ. ആ സിനിമ കണ്ട് റിവ്യൂ എഴുതണമെന്ന് ഒരാഗ്രഹം തോന്നി” - എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ മനസില്ലാ മനസോടെ സമ്മതിച്ചു.

ബ്ലെസി സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ‘പ്രണയം’, ആ സിനിമയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ആദ്യവാര്‍ത്ത പുറത്തുവന്നപ്പോള്‍ തന്നെ എന്നെ ആകര്‍ഷിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയതാണ്. മോഹന്‍ലാലിന്‍റെ പുതിയ രൂപവും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ പാട്ടും അനുപം ഖേറും ജയപ്രദയുമായുള്ള വിഷ്വല്‍‌സും ടി വിയില്‍ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ പ്രണയത്തോടുള്ള പ്രണയം കലശലായി. എന്‍റെ ക്ഷീണാവസ്ഥയെയും ഞാന്‍ മറക്കുകയാണ്. തിയേറ്ററിലെ തണുപ്പില്‍ ഞാന്‍ ‘പ്രണയം’ വിടരുന്നതും കാത്തിരുന്നു.

തിയേറ്ററില്‍ പ്രണയം വിടര്‍ന്നു. അനുപം ഖേറാണ് ആദ്യം നമ്മുടെ മുന്നിലേക്ക് വരുന്നത് - അച്യുതമേനോന്‍ എന്ന കഥാപാത്രമായി. അദ്ദേഹം മകന്‍ സുരേഷി(അനൂപ് മേനോന്‍)ന്‍റെ ഫ്ലാറ്റിലേക്ക് താമസത്തിനായി വന്നിരിക്കുകയാണ്. ബ്ലെസിക്ക് ഉള്ള ആദ്യ അഭിനന്ദനം അവിടെനിന്നു തുടങ്ങുന്നു - ഈ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ അനുപം ഖേറിന്‍റെ മകന്‍റെ വേഷത്തില്‍ അനൂപ് മേനോനെ കാസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തതിന്. ഒന്നാന്തരം തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് തന്നെ.

അച്യുതമേനോന്‍ തന്‍റെ ‘ഓര്‍മ്മജീവിതം’ അവിടെ ആരംഭിക്കുകയാണ്. അയാളുടെ ഉള്ളില്‍ ആരുമറിയാതെ, മായാതെ കിടക്കുന്ന ഒരു മുറിവുണ്ട്. ഒരു നഷ്ടപ്രണയത്തിന്‍റെ ഓര്‍മ്മ. പ്രണയം അയാളും ഭാര്യയും തമ്മിലായിരുന്നു. 40 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കുമുമ്പ് ആ പ്രണയം അയാള്‍ക്ക് നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു. ഗ്രേസ്(ജയപ്രദ) എന്ന തന്‍റെ ഭാര്യയുമായി 40 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പ് വിവാഹമോചനം നടത്തിയതിന്‍റെ നഷ്ടബോധം ഈ വാര്‍ദ്ധക്യത്തില്‍ അയാളെ തളര്‍ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അവള്‍ ഇന്ന് തന്നോടൊപ്പം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ എന്ന് ഏറ്റവും ആഗ്രഹിച്ചുപോകുന്ന നിമിഷങ്ങളിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോകുന്നതിനൊടുവില്‍, അയാള്‍ തന്‍റെ ഗ്രേസിനെ അവിചാരിതമായി കണ്ടുമുട്ടുന്നു.

ബ്ലെസി സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച ചിത്രം ‘തന്‍‌മാത്ര’ ആണെന്നായിരുന്നു ഇതുവരെയുള്ള എന്‍റെ വിലയിരുത്തല്‍. ഇപ്പോള്‍ ‘പ്രണയം’ എന്നെ മോഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു. കൊമേഴ്സ്യല്‍ മൂല്യങ്ങള്‍ സംരക്ഷിക്കാനുള്ള തിരക്കില്‍ സിനിമ മറന്നുപോയ നമ്മുടെ ചലച്ചിത്രകാരന്‍‌മാര്‍ക്ക് ബ്ലെസി നല്ലവഴി പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കുകയാണ് - പ്രണയത്തിലൂടെ. ഈ വര്‍ഷം കുറേ നല്ല സിനിമകള്‍ ഇറങ്ങി. ട്രാഫിക്, സാള്‍ട്ട് ആന്‍റ് പെപ്പര്‍(സാള്‍ട്ട് ആന്‍റ് പെപ്പര്‍ കാണാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. ആശുപത്രിമുറിയില്‍ വേദന കടിച്ചമര്‍ത്തി കഴിഞ്ഞ നാളുകളിലൊന്നിലാണ് ആ സിനിമ റിലീസായത്) തുടങ്ങി കുറേ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍. പക്ഷേ, ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തിന്‍റെ സിനിമ ‘പ്രണയം’ ആണെന്നു തോന്നുന്നു. ഇനിയെത്ര വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞാലും പ്രണയത്തിന്‍റെ മധുരം ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുകയുമില്ല.

അച്യുതമേനോന്‍ ഗ്രേസിനെ കാണാന്‍ എത്തുന്നത് മാത്യൂസിന്‍റെ അനുവാദത്തോടെയാണ്. മാത്യൂസിന് അറിയാം അച്യുതമേനോന്‍റെ മനസ്. എന്നാല്‍ ആ കൂടിക്കാഴ്ചയെ അംഗീകരിക്കാന്‍ അച്യുതമേനോന്‍റെ മകന് കഴിയുന്നില്ല. അവിടെ അസ്വാരസ്യങ്ങള്‍ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. മാത്യൂസും ഗ്രേസും താമസിക്കുന്നത് മകളുടെ(ധന്യാ മേരി വര്‍ഗീസ്) കുടുംബത്തോടൊപ്പമാണ്. അവിടെയും സ്ഥിതി മറിച്ചല്ല. 

പക്ഷാഘാതത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് മാത്യൂസ് തളര്‍ന്നുപോകുന്നതാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്‍റെ ടേണിംഗ് പോയിന്‍റ്. സിനിമ പ്രേക്ഷകന് ചിന്തിക്കാനാവാത്ത തലത്തിലേക്ക് ഉയരുന്നു. സ്ട്രോക്ക് വന്ന് സംസാരിക്കാന്‍ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുള്ള, വീല്‍‌ചെയറിലൊതുങ്ങിയ മാത്യൂസിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ എന്‍റെ കണ്ണുകള്‍ നിറഞ്ഞൊഴുകി. എനിക്കിപ്പോള്‍ ആ നിസഹായാവസ്ഥ കൂടുതല്‍ മനസിലാക്കാന്‍ കഴിയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടാവണം.

അവര്‍ മൂവരും കൂടി - മാത്യൂസും ഗ്രേസും അച്യുതമേനോനും ഒരു യാത്ര പോകുകയാണ്. ജീവിതത്തിന്‍റെ സായാഹ്നത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും ആനന്ദകരവും ഒപ്പം വേദനാജനകവുമായ നിമിഷങ്ങളിലൂടെ. മലയാള സിനിമയിലെ എക്കാലത്തെയും മികച്ച അഭിനയ മുഹൂര്‍ത്തങ്ങള്‍ക്കാണ് പിന്നീട് നമ്മള്‍ സാക്‍ഷ്യം വഹിക്കുക. മോഹന്‍ലാലിനെ മലയാളികള്‍ ഇത്രയധികം സ്നേഹിച്ചുപോകുന്നത് എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണെന്ന് ‘പ്രണയം’ ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്തി തരുന്നു. ഇയാള്‍ക്ക് പകരം വയ്ക്കാന്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ സിനിമയില്‍ മറ്റൊരാളില്ല.

തളര്‍ന്നുപോയ മാത്യൂസിനെ ഗ്രേസ് പരിചരിക്കുന്നതിന്‍റെ ദൃശ്യങ്ങള്‍, ആത്മബന്ധങ്ങളുടെ ചിത്രീകരണത്തില്‍ ബ്ലെസിയുടെ മികവ് വീണ്ടും വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി. തന്‍‌മാത്രയില്‍ ഓര്‍മ്മകള്‍ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട രമേശനെ ഭാര്യ പരിചരിക്കുന്ന രംഗങ്ങള്‍ മനസില്‍ തെളിയും. അതിലും എത്ര ഹൃദയസ്പര്‍ശിയായ മുഹൂര്‍ത്തങ്ങളാണ് പ്രണയത്തില്‍ നമ്മള്‍ കാണുന്നത്. മാത്യൂസിന്‍റെ ശരീരത്തെയും മനസിനെയും ഗ്രേസിനെപ്പോലെ മനസിലാക്കിയ വേറെയാരുമില്ല. സംസാരിക്കാന്‍ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുന്ന അയാളുടെ ഓരോ ചലനങ്ങളും മന്ത്രണങ്ങള്‍ പോലും ഗ്രേസിന് മനസിലാകുന്നു.

ചിത്രത്തിന്‍റെ ക്ലൈമാക്സ് അനുപമമാണ്. ഇതുപോലെ, ഇത്രയും കൃത്യമായ, ഹൃദയത്തെ ഉലയ്ക്കുന്ന, കണ്ണീരണിയിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ക്ലൈമാക്സ് ഞാന്‍ അധികം കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല. കണ്ണീരിനിടയില്‍ ഞാന്‍ കൈതട്ടി ബ്ലെസിക്ക് അഭിനന്ദനം അറിയിച്ചു. നോക്കിയപ്പോള്‍ എന്‍റെ സമീപമിരുന്നവര്‍ എല്ലാം, തിയേറ്റര്‍ ആകെത്തന്നെ കയ്യടിച്ച് തങ്ങളുടെ സന്തോഷം 

പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

40 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പ് തനിക്ക് നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടത് എന്താണെന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിയുന്ന അച്യുതമേനോന്‍റെ വേദന, മാത്യൂസ് എന്ന ഭര്‍ത്താവിന്‍റെ സ്നേഹത്തിലും കരുതലിലും സന്തുഷ്ടയായ ഗ്രേസിന്‍റെ ചിരി, തന്‍റെ മുന്‍ ഭര്‍ത്താവിനെ ഓര്‍ത്തുള്ള ഗ്രേസിന്‍റെ നൊമ്പരങ്ങള്‍, മാത്യൂസ് എന്ന ഭര്‍ത്താവിന്‍റെ ഹൃദയവികാരങ്ങള്‍ എല്ലാം ബ്ലെസി അതിമനോഹരമായി ആവിഷ്കരിച്ചു പ്രണയത്തില്‍. ‘പ്രണയം’ - എത്ര സുന്ദരമായ പേരാണത്. അതിന്‍റെ എല്ലാ അര്‍ത്ഥതലങ്ങളെയും സ്പര്‍ശിക്കുന്ന ഒരു സിനിമയാണ് ബ്ലെസി രചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

മോഹന്‍ലാലും ജയപ്രദയും അനുപം‌ ഖേറും തകര്‍ത്തഭിനയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ഒരു പാളിച്ചയെന്ന് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടാവുന്നത് അനുപം ഖേറിന്‍റെ ലിപ് മൂവ്മെന്‍റുകളും ഡയലോഗുകളും തമ്മില്‍ സിങ്ക് ആകാത്തതാണ്. ഇത് ആദ്യം അല്‍പ്പം പ്രശ്നമായി തോന്നി. പിന്നീട് ആ കുഴപ്പം മാറി. അച്യുതമേനോന്‍ എന്ന മലയാളിയായല്ലാതെ അനുപം ഖേറിനെ ഇനി ചിന്തിക്കാന്‍ തന്നെ പ്രയാസം!

മോഹന്‍ലാല്‍ ഈ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ അതിഥിതാരമാണെന്നൊക്കെ ചില റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകള്‍ വായിച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ഒരു മുഴുനീള കഥാപാത്രമാണ് ഈ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ മാത്യൂസ്. ആദ്യം ഒരു 20 മിനിട്ടൊക്കെ കഴിഞ്ഞാണ് മാത്യൂസ് എത്തുന്നതെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട് അയാള്‍ നിറഞ്ഞുനില്‍ക്കുന്നു. ക്ലൈമാക്സ് രംഗങ്ങളില്‍ മാത്യൂസായി മോഹന്‍ലാല്‍ നടത്തിയ പ്രകടനത്തെ അത്ഭുതാദരവോടെയാണ് നോക്കിയിരുന്നത്.

ചിത്രത്തിന്‍റെ ക്യാമറയും പശ്ചാത്തല സംഗീതവുമാണ് എടുത്തുപറയേണ്ടത്. സതീഷ് കുറുപ്പിന്‍റെ ഛായാഗ്രഹണം ഗംഭീരമാണ്. ഇത്ര ആഴമുള്ള ഒരു കഥയെ അതിന്‍റെ ഭംഗിയിലും പ്രൌഡിയിലും പ്രേക്ഷകരിലെത്തിക്കാന്‍ സതീഷിന് കഴിഞ്ഞു. എം ജയചന്ദ്രന്‍ ഈണമിട്ട ഗാനങ്ങളും പശ്ചാത്തല സംഗീതവുമാണ് ‘പ്രണയ’ത്തിന്‍റെ ജീവന്‍. ഓരോ ഇമോഷനും ചേര്‍ന്നുലയിച്ചു നില്‍ക്കുന്ന സംഗീതം. 

പാട്ടുകളില്‍ ഞാന്‍ പ്രണയിക്കുന്നത് ‘ഐ ആം യുവര്‍ മാന്‍..’ എന്ന ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സോംഗിനെയാണ്. മോഹന്‍ലാലിന്‍റെ ആലാപനത്തില്‍ അത് മനസ് കീഴടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ‘പാട്ടില്‍ ഈ പാട്ടില്‍...’, ‘മഴത്തുള്ളി പളുങ്കുകള്‍...’ എന്നീ പാട്ടുകളും ഗംഭീരം. ‘മഴത്തുള്ളി പളുങ്കുകള്‍...’ എന്ന ഗാനരംഗത്ത് പഴയ പാലക്കാട് ഒലവക്കോട് റയില്‍‌വെ സ്റ്റേഷനും ട്രെയിനുമൊക്കെ കാണിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. മനോഹരമായ അനുഭവം.

ഈ ബ്ലെസിച്ചിത്രം നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയത്തെ പ്രണയ തരളിതമാക്കും. മനസിനെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കും. വര്‍ഷങ്ങളോളം മനസില്‍ നിറഞ്ഞുനില്‍ക്കും മാത്യൂസും അച്യുതമേനോനും ഗ്രേസും. ബ്ലെസിയുടെ ചിന്ത അത്ഭുതപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതാണ്. ഈ സിനിമ, വരണ്ടുണങ്ങിയ മലയാള സിനിമയിലേക്ക് കാലഘട്ടം ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട മഴയാണ്. ഈ മഴ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തരുത്. ആവോളം നനയുക. പ്രണയത്തിന്‍റെ നോവും സുഖവും അനുഭവിക്കുക.
